Billie Jean Smoot Smith, age 84 of Fleming County, widow of Theodore Richard Smith, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. Born in Ringos Mills on August 3, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Goble and Pansy Ethel Pierce Smoot. Billie Jean was a homemaker and had worked at local area restaurants in her younger years. Billie Jean was a Christian and will always be remembered as a very giving person. Survivors include: her daughter, Jennifer (John) Vice of Fleming County; brothers, Joseph (Diana) Smoot of Morehead, Jesse (Barbara) Smoot of Ringos Mills, Raleigh (Dixie) Smoot of Ringos Mills, Robert (Kathy) Smoot of Jackson, KY and Clarkie (Pat) Smoot of Marion, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: her sister, Lillian F. Finch; and brother-in-law, William S. Finch. A graveside service with burial to follow, will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Longview Cemetery in Bethel officiated by Bro. Roy Stacy and Pastor Lloyd Latimer. No visitation is planned. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Robertson, Joseph Smoot, Jr., Ricky Smoot, Aaron Watson, Andrew Smoot and James Smoot. Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home is in care of funeral arrangements.
