Carolyn Calvert

December 31, 1942 — January 1, 2019

Mrs. Carolyn Johnson Calvert of Flemingsburg, KY, beloved wife of the late Billy Calvert, passed away from this life on January 1, 2019. Mrs. Calvert was born in Grange City, Kentucky on December 31, 1943, the third of four children to the late Thomas C. and Glyda Crawford Johnson. Mrs. Calvert was a 1961 graduate of Fleming County High School and a 1966 graduate of Morehead State University. Upon graduating from college, Mrs. Calvert returned to her alma mater where she taught business and typing until her retirement all while farming alongside her husband and family. After retirement, she continued to work for the Fleming County Migrant program for many years. Many FCHS graduates walked across the stage and received their diploma under the watchful eye and careful organization of Mrs. Calvert. Mrs. Calvert's attention to detail was ever present, whether in editing the FCHS yearbook, conducting graduation, teaching future community leaders the foundations of business, or in the way she conducted herself every day. It was because of her professionalism and dedication to her profession and community that she was honored by being made a Kentucky Colonel.
Her loving daughter Kristie Calvert Campbell and her son-in-law C.C. Campbell survive Mrs. Calvert. One of her greatest pleasures was accompanying Billy and Kristie to steer shows and buying trips and retelling the adventures once they returned. She could often be seen at steer shows not only supporting her daughter but the youth of the area as well; she was a longtime supporter of the Fleming County 4-H/FFA Livestock Show and Sale.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Calvert was preceded in death by: her brothers, John Paul, Wendell Lloyd, and Gary Thomas Johnson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law John C. and Helen Calvert; and grandparents Johnny and Pearl Johnson, and Lloyd and Mag Crawford.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Calvert is survived by her uncle Dick Crawford, sister-in-law Angela Heitz Johnson, nieces Amy(Kevin) Ishmael, Wendy(Tony) Hargett, and nephew R.T. Johnson(Amecia Wickerham), great niece Sarah Ishmael, and great nephews Jared Ishmael and Lincoln Hargett, as well as a host of family and friends.
