Catherine Marshall Dunaway

Catherine Marshall Dunaway, 97 of Dudley Hollow Road, Wallingford, Kentucky passed away March 28, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. She was born March 12, 1927, in Beechburg, Kentucky to the late Charles and Thelma Parker Marshall.

 She graduated from Fleming County High School in 1945. Catherine was a member of the Wallingford United Methodist Church where she was the pianist and singer for many years. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother and additionally worked at the United States Postal Service. She enjoyed preparing family meals as well as meals for church functions.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jesse Irvin Dunaway, brothers, Robert Marshall and Lytle Marshall. Sisters, Jane Boling and Charlotte Cassidy. 

Survivors include three sons, J. P. Dunaway (Phyllis) of Morehead, Kentucky, Steven Dunaway (Cindy) of Camby, Indiana and Joel Dunaway (Karen) of Wallingford. One daughter, June Gooding (Purnie) of Poplar Plains, Kentucky. Six grandchildren, Jeffrey Dunaway (Rosa), Chris Dunaway (Liana), Cody Dunaway (Hollye), Kristi Murray (Rex), Mike Gooding (Ramona) and Beverly McDonald (Tommy). Fourteen great-grandchildren: Jessica Gooding Link, Sophie Gooding, Robert Gooding, Andy McDonald, Jamie McDonald, Karina Dunaway Genesis Dunaway, Carla Grajeda, Aiden Dunaway, Nicolas Dunaway, Kyle Murray, Chilli Murray, Emery Dunaway, Austin Joel (A. J.) Dunaway.
Several Great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Brother Jesse Hickerson officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband Jesse in the Wallingford Cemetery.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg is after 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service Tuesday.

Pall bearers will be Cody Dunaway, Rex Murray, Martin Marshall, Rodney Marshall, Anthony Marshall, Phillip Marshall, Mike Gooding, Christopher Dunaway and Chuck Marshall.

Honorary pall bearer will be Jeff Boling.
