Charles Marshall Jolly, age 79, of Tilton, widower of Linda Moore Jolly, passed away on Thursday, October 25,2018 at his residence. Charles was born on January 16, 1939 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Elzie and Lydia Bowles Jolly. A retired farmer, Charles also served as a Fleming County Magistrate for 21 years. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and baseball, coaching in Little League Baseball, and coon and deer hunting. He is survived by: a son, Eddie Jolly of Tilton; a daughter, Debbie Jolly of Tilton; two grandsons, Sam (Amanda) Jolly of Tilton, and Eric (Margaret) Jolly of Tilton; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Corbin, and Emerson Jolly; a brother, Herbert Jolly of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mae (Kenneth) Ramey of Wallingford, and Faye Lewis of Dayton, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Christine McGlone. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Raymond and David Jolly; four sisters, Juanita Jolly, Helen Steele, Geneva Rammel, and Virginia Boling; and a daughter-in-law, Janie Jolly. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in the chapel of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. James Hickerson. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Monday, October 29th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Carrol Vice, Kenny Hickerson, Duke Flora, Donnie Saunders, Robert Dailey, and Paul Tranbarger.
