Cora Allen

October 15, 1941 — October 18, 2019

Cora Sue Bentley Allen, 78, widow of Sidney Allen, of Hillsboro, Ky, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 18, 2019 while at her home sleeping peacefully.

She was born on October 15, 1941 to the late Russell and Ida Bentley in Pike County, Kentucky. She moved to Chicago for a short period of time where she met her husband of 48 years Sidney Allen.  They moved back to Pike County, Kentucky where she raised her children. Later, they purchased a vacation home at Cave Run Lake where they spent most of their summers, years later they moved to Hillsboro, located in close proximity to the lake they were so fond of.

Cora enjoyed shopping, dressing up, and wearing diamonds were her favorite, her hair was always perfect and nails freshly manicured.  She was kind and gracious to family and strangers alike.

Cora was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who raised 4 children, daughter Tammy Casey who loved her and cared for her and her husband Mike; her son, Greg Smith and his spouse Lisa; estranged son Teddy "Rocky" Hickman; grandchildren Brook Casey and her spouse Josh; Megan Smith Cox, Miracle Smith; Joseph Hickman; Jared Hickman; great-grandchildren include Ashtyn, Aidan, Ian, Ethan, Tygan, Kendrick, Raylan, Christian, Lola and Jackson; Her brother Herman; and her sisters, Betty Lou, Christine and Phyllis.

Along with her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband Sidney Allen; her grandson, Gregory Michael Smith; sisters, Ruby, Ethel, Golda, and Pauline; brothers, Clarence, Jack, Clifford "Pippi", Terry, and Lawson.

Cora will be deeply missed by her family and friends alike.

Services for Cora will be private, Entombment will be in Johnson Memorial Park in Pikeville, Ky.  Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home is in care of final arrangements.  Condolences may be made at www.carpenterfritzvicefh.com
