Danny Mattox, 73, of Fleming County, husband of 54 years to Carolyn Smith Mattox, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. He was born December 4, 1944 in Mason County, the son of the late John and Eva Mattox. Affectionately known as Captain Dan, he was a retired Boat Captain for Crounse Corporation, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, hunting and spending time with friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by: two daughters, Sandra (Charlie) Charles and Karen Watson (Graham Edwards); sisters, Hilda McKenzie, Lilly Porter and Judy Willison; and several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Gayle Skaggs and Bro. Darry Cooper. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, January 31st at the funeral home. Burial will be in Goddard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Justice, David Cox, Bill Thompson, Woodie Reeves, Bob Peterson, and Pat Royse. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056.
