Donald Jones

Mr. Donald Clayton Jones, age 68, of Flemingsburg, KY, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

He was born May 11, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ, a son of Dorothy Marie Sexton Jones Lawson and the late Wilburn F. Jones.

Donald was retired from Cheap's Chevrolet in Flemingsburg as a salesman and was a former police officer in Orlando, FL. He was the former owner of Tropical Energy Specialists and a contractor for Florida Power. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved being outdoors, playing golf, bowling, deer hunting, Corvette cars, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John Archie Lawson, and a step-brother, David Lawson.

Donald is survived by: his mother, Dorothy Lawson of Flemingsburg, KY; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lisa Jones of Apopka, FL; three grandchildren, Morgan Jones, Riley Jones, and Carson Jones, all of Apopka, FL; a brother, Dennis Jones of Deland, FL; two half-brothers, Tim Lawson of Atlanta, GA, and Jeff Jones of Dayton, OH; a step-brother, John Lawson, Jr. of Olive Hill, KY; and a step-sister, Della Johnson of Morehead, KY. He also leave behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home with Bro. Milt Stanfield and Bro. Charles Emmons officiating. Visitation will be 10-11am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY with military funeral honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.
