Douglas Thomas

Douglas O. Thomas, 73, of Fleming County, husband of Phyllis B. Thomas, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Born in Bath County, he was a son of the late Orville and Norine E. Warner Thomas. A lifelong farmer, Doug attended Sherburne Christian Church and enjoyed doing carpentry. He also enjoyed attending dances with his wife, fishing, as well as traveling, and attending community events and family gatherings. Besides his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Donna House of Bethel; a son, Brian (Loria) Thomas of Bethel; grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Brittany House, Brian D. Thomas II, Jessica Thomas, Cody House, and Dustin Thomas; step-grandchildren, Kayleigh Richmond and Colby Richmond; six great-grandchildren; step-son, D.W. (Annette) Brown of Fleming County; step-grandchildren, Chase W. Brown; a step-great-granddaughter, Taylor Grace Brown; and a brother, Norman (Helen) Thomas of Sharpsburg. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Allen Thomas; and a sister, Thelma Thomas. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Roy Stacy and Bro. Kevin Miles. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, November 1st at the funeral home. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery in Bethel. Active pallbearers will be Brian D. Thomas II, Cody House, Dustin Thomas, D.W. Brown, Chase W. Brown, and Matt Gullett. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Stanfield, Lawrence Richards, Bill Richards, Gene McGuire, Norman Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Randy Thomas, and Buck Thomas.
