Earnie Stephens

June 30, 1949 — March 11, 2015

Earnie L. Stephens, 65, of Flemingsburg, beloved husband to Nancy L. Jones Stephens, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Earnie was born on June 30, 1949 in Sandy Hook, KY, a son of the late Ollie Elmer and Blanche Williams Stephens.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Earnie was a member of the American Legion Post #5 and the VFW Post #1834 of which he was a member of their funeral Honor Guard Detail. A man of deep faith and devotion to the Lord, Earnie was a member of the Highpoint 3CU Church. He was a retired factory worker from Delphi Automotive in Dayton, OH and he loved to play golf as well as farming. Earnie was deeply loved by his family and will be missed.

Besides his faithful wife of 42 years, he is survived by: his son, Paul Stephens (Susan Ashcraft) of Shelbyville; a granddaughter, Bretta M. Stephens; his siblings, Thelma Oliver of Charlotte, NC, Delma Ison of Morehead, Delmas (Carol) Stephens, of Dayton, OH, Glennis (John) Welks of Kettering, OH, Delmar (Nancy) Stephens of Vandalia, OH, James (Debbie) Stephens of Sandy Hook, Mary Parish of Mt. Sterling, Elmer (Debbie) Stephens, Jr. of Clayton, NC, and Glenda (Leon) Caudill of Xenia, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Donnie Reed. Visitation will be 2 - 9 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Ison, James Kemplin, Robby Stephens, Greg Stephens, Kevin Stephens, Chris Stephens, and David Jones. Honorary pallbearers Michael Stephens, Michael Varney and Ryan Ashworth In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Veteran Relief Fund, c/o Flemingsburg VFW, 1335 Mt.
