Edgar Reynolds, Jr.

Edgar 'Bucky' Reynolds, 79, of Ewing, KY, formerly of Hazard, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. Bucky was born on June 9, 1937 in Hazard, a son of the late Bonnie Cloud Reynolds and Edgar M. Reynolds, Sr.

A U.S. Army veteran, Bucky was a former firefighter for the city of Hazard and former Hazard Chief of Police. He began his career in law enforcement in 1966 as a police officer until 1982 when he became Police Chief until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Hazard where he also served as Elder. Bucky enjoyed fishing and hunting and watching Westerns, but most of all, he was an avid UK fan and loved watching Kentucky basketball. Bucky spent his entire life in Hazard until thirteen years ago, when he married his second wife, Sylvia Argo Reynolds, and moved to the community of Ewing in Fleming County.

Besides his wife, he is survived by: his daughter, Alicia (James) Walker of Hazard; two step-sons, Allen (Janelle) Argo, and Tony (Cheri) Argo, both of Ewing; two grandchildren, James Edgar (Marsha) Walker , and Melinda (Justin) Edwards, both of Hazard; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Walker, and Kira and Kameron Edwards, all of Hazard; five step-grandchildren, Trevor Argo, Sidney Argo, Jayden Argo, Abree Argo, and Emma Argo, all of Ewing; four sisters, Parry Davis of Fairborn, OH, Mabel Galimanis of Cornmill, AZ, Gertrude Erwin of Hazard, and Martha Ingram of Dade City, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Joyce Burcham Reynolds; two brothers, Dr. John G. Reynolds and Fred Reynolds; and a sister, Mildred Stacy.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Wooton in Leslie County officiated by Pastor Tim Reynolds and Pastor Mark Tabata. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 pm Saturday at the church. Burial of cremains will be private. Memorials are suggested to the Hazard F.O.P. Lodge #7, P.O. Box 754, Hazard, KY 41701.
