Edna Colgan

Edna Rawlings Colgan, 90, of Flemingsburg, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015, at home. Born January 11, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James Richard and Elizabeth Gray Rawlings.

Mrs. Colgan retired from Community Trust Bank in 2009 after 30 years of service. She also worked for Dr. P.M. Ross, DDS, for 17 years. She was a devoted member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church and was named Deacon Emeritus in 2009. Mrs. Colgan was the first secretary of the Fleming County Little League program, a Cub Scout den mother, president of the Fleming County Women's Club, a Master Homemaker and a member of Quilters Anonymous.

Surviving are her children, Carolyn (Gene) Schwartz, James Colgan, and Joanne Colgan, all of Fleming County; Lynn Gumbhir of Kansas City, MO; and Michael (Missy) Colgan of Rowan County. Grandchildren include Todd (Stacey) Schwartz of Newman, GA; Kyle (Angella) Schwartz of Nashville, TN; Vik Gumbhir of Spokane WA; Anjali Gumbhir of Chicago, IL; Haleigh Eldridge, Carleigh and Bentley Colgan, all of Rowan County; and Rachel and Seth Colgan of Flemingsburg; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Brianna, Conner, Landon, and Harrison. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Sherley and Kelly Rawlings.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Flemingsburg Christian Church with Rev. Peter Morgan conducting the funeral at the church at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 9, 2015. Burial will be in the Elizaville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Flemingsburg Christian Church, the Cancer Care Club, and Hayswood Home Health. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home.
