Jewell Porter

Jewell B. Porter, 85, of Flemingsburg, widow of Tuck Porter, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. Jewell was born on July 29, 1931 in Fleming County, a daughter of the late Albert H. and Beulah Mae Moran Bellamy.

A member of the Flemingsburg Church of the Nazarene, Jewell was a retired babysitter and was affectionately known to the children she kept as 'Aunt Jewell'. She enjoyed her flowers and taking care of things around the house, but most of all, she loved being around her grandchildren.

Jewell is survived by: her daughter, Connie (Gerald) Saunders of Hillsboro; her son, Tommy (Bonnie) Porter of Flemingsburg; grandchildren, Melissa Saunders (Chris) Kane of Poplar Plains, Jill (Bryan) Bradley of Wallingford, and Justin Porter of Flemingsburg; great-grandchildren, Bryce Bradley, Blake Bradley, and Isabella Kane; two sisters, Carolyn Strunk of Milford, OH, and Doris Redmond of Lexington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, February 24, 2017 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Greg Grimes and Rev. Clint Stricklen. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, February 23rd at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Mullikin, Jackie Thomas, Jerry Porter, Melvin Porter, David Porter, Justin Porter, Bryan Bradley, and Bobby Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Thomas, Deb Hyer, Doug Norsworthy, and Donnie Moran.
