John Donovan

October 18, 1957 — December 22, 2016

John Donovan, 59, of Ewing, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. Born October 18, 1957 in Maysville, he was a son of the late James E. and Nancy Howe Donovan. John was an accomplished artist, and graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. John also had a love for trains, which never made his job as an Engineer for TTI Railroad seem like work.

Whether listening to his records by the fire, or making an authentic buckskin outfit, John enjoyed everything about his life, and all of the joys that life has to offer. His practical jokes and contagious laugh will always be remembered. John was a devoted father with a very kind heart which fed his zest for life and living it to the fullest. John was a lifelong member of Ewing Christian Church and attended the Nepton United Methodist Church.

He is survived by: his son, Jake Donovan of Morehead; special friend, Jill Crowe of Fleming County; siblings, Steve Donovan, David Donovan, Frannie (Gerald) Vice, and Jeff (Nancy) Donovan, all of Ewing, and Ed (Wendy) Donovan of Adelaide, Australia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by: his daughter, Katie Donovan Prager; a brother, Gene Donovan; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Donovan and Karen Donovan.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Ewing Christian Church officiated by Pastor Larry T. Ingram and Pastor Adam Gulley. Visitation will be 12 noon to 7 pm Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to a charity of one's choice. Final arrangement details are in care of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home.
