John Hickerson

January 27, 1931 — March 6, 2019

John Robert "Bobby" Hickerson passed away peacefully on March 6, 2019 at home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He was born in Galesburg, Illinois on January 27, 1931. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Catherine Turner Hickerson, his parents, Clarence and Emma Lou Hickerson, and two brothers, Arthur Dean and Kenneth Hickerson. Upon graduation from Fleming County High School, Bobby entered the United States Air Force serving both state-side and overseas as an Air Policeman from 1951 to 1954. Upon returning to Fleming County, he farmed for years and worked both with the Department of Agriculture as a Livestock Inspector and Milk Inspector throughout the State, prior to retirement. He was a member of the Blue Bank Christian Church and attended the Grace Baptist Church in Lewisburg. Bobby is survived by his children, Mary Lou Barker Clarke (Ben) of West Palm Beach, FL, Cathy Ann Gulley (Anthony) of Flemingsburg, KY and Bobby Ray Hickerson (Jennifer) of Nicholasville, KY; four granddaughters, Heather Barker of Denver, CO, Katrina Rechtin (Rory) of Bellevue, KY, Celeste Wethington (Josh) of Frankfort, KY and Celena Hickerson of OH; three great-grandsons, Reed Rechtin and Drake Rechtin of Bellevue, KY, and Mikhal Wethington of Frankfort, KY. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 9, 2019 in the chapel of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Larry Manning. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Hickerson, Kelly Hickerson, Bob Hickerson, Rob Hickerson, Barry Hickerson, Chris Darnall, Lee Sanders, and Alan Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be David Kearns, Jim Meadows, Kenny Meadows, and Gerald Wayne Meadows. In lieu of flower, the family requests contributions be made to a charity of one's choice
