Kenneth 'Kenny' E. Hester, 87,of Flemingsburg, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, July 6, 2015. He was born on December 13, 1927 in Fleming County to the late Claude and Ethel Gulley Hester, and raised on the family farm on Hester Ridge. A U.S. Army veteran, Kenneth married Eloise 'Lois' Fearin Hester on January 10, 1948.
Kenneth was a God-fearing man who was fully devoted to his family and church family. He was an active and committed member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ for 67 years where he served as Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. Kenneth loved to go and have fellowship with his friends at the Senior Citizens Center, and he was an avid UK Basketball fan and also loved to work puzzles.
Throughout his life, Kenneth worked as a self-employed truck driver at his trucking company 'Hester Trucking' and he also loved working on his farm with his cattle, as well as driving a school bus, and driving for Licking Valley Senior Citizens Center. Kenneth's passion was his family, church family, and camping with friends. He will always be remembered for his big smile and his 'kind' heart. He always had a grin on his face and treasured every moment he spent with his family.
He is survived by: his loving daughters, Linda (Gerald) Meadows of Tollesboro, Brenda (Jackie) Doyle of Flemingsburg, and Pam Hester Cole of Crossvile, TN; grandchildren, Jill (Scott) McKee, Amy Adkins, Denise (Trent) Werline, Gera Henderson, Jeremy Hester, Kyle (Magaly) Miller, and Jeffrey Cole; great-grandchildren, Erika Hunt, Talia Adkins, Joe Hunt, Dustin Smith, Shada Adkins, Mackenzie Henderson, Jacob and Joshua Werline, Maggie Henderson, Jackson Miller, Braydon and Bailey McKee, and J.D. Hester; great-great-grandchildren, Emma Gray and Skyla Stephens; a sister, Maxine Donley; a brother, Eugene (Frances) Hester; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by:his wife of 65 years, Eloise 'Lois' Hester; his special son, Dean Hester; and a brother, Lowell Hester.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Foxport officiated by Bro. Tom Mitchell, Bro. Layne Wagner, and Bro. Arnold Howell. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Friday, July 10th at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home and also from 8:00 am until the hour of service Saturday at the Pleaseant Valley Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and the the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834.
Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Hester, Kyle Miller, Jeffrey Cole, Joe Hunt, Dustin Smith, Joshua Werline and Jacob Werline. Honorary pallbearers will be Jill McKee, Braydon McKee, Bailey McKee, Amy Adkins, Talia Adkins, Shada Adkins, Erika Hunt, Denise Werline, Gera Henderson, Mackenzie Henderson, Maggie Henderson, Jackson Miller, J.D. Hester, Emma Gray, and Skyla Stephens. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056 or the Sugarloaf Christian Camp, 637 Prater Rd., Wallingford, KY 41093.
