Larry D. Porter, 70, of Goddard, widower of Norma Jean Porter, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. Born on Pea Ridge in Fleming County, Larry was a son of the late Jessie Calvin and Hattie Elizabeth Coy Porter. Larry was retired from Randall Textron after over forty years of service. In his spare time, Larry loved to go fishing and he also loved gardening. He is survived by: three daughters, Tracy Lynn Hester, Kimberly Robyn (David) Hickerson, and Becky Porter O'Shields, all of Fleming County; his first wife and mother of his children, Shirley Jean Blevins of Fleming County; grandchildren, Victoria Hester, Tyler Hickerson, Tessa McCord, and Emily Bishop; his sister, Ruth Ann McKee of Fleming County; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife Norma Jean, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Glenn Porter, and Jerry Lee Porter. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Darry W. Cooper and Bro. Steve Hickerson. Visitation will be 11am - 2pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Goddard Cemetery.
