Leona DeAtley Henderson, age 88, of Flemingsburg, widow of William “Bill” Forest Henderson, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Hospice Care Center in Maysville. She was born on September 19, 1931 in Fleming County, a daughter of the late Emmitt Samuel and Virgie Lee McKee DeAtley. Leona was a homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her family. She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Fleming County. Survivors include: a son, Tommy (Lana) Henderson of Mayslick; two daughters, Brenda Joyce (Charles) Bussell of Paris, and Betty Ann Moran of Maysville; grandchildren, Lenita Henderson, April Dada, Tammy Henderson, Bill Henry Henderson, David Lee Allison, and Ashley Joyce Bussell; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Anderson DeAtley; two sisters, Edna Hunt and Nellie Mae Sexton; a grandson, Bobby Lee Allison; and a son-in-law, Bill Moran. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the chapel of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Danny Howard. Visitation will be 11am-1pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Muses Mills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Henry Henderson, David Lee Allison, Elmer Allison, Nicholas Allison, David DeAtley, and Jimmy DeAtley. Memorials are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
