Loretta Story

Loretta J. Story, 85, of Flemingsburg, widow of Marshall Allen Story, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Fleming County Hospital. She was born on December 31, 1930 in Mt. Sterling, a daughter of the late Paul Clay and Mable Applegate Ralls.

A 1947 graduate of Orangeburg High School, Loretta was a very active member of the Flemingsburg First Church of God. She was a former secretary for Litton Ford, a former U.S. Shoe Factory employee, and in her later years, she was a caretaker for many people in their homes. Loretta loved to bake and cook for her family, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by: a son, Howard (Pat) Owens of Lewis County; two granddaughters, Paula (Keith) Cooper, and Gayle (Billy) Riley, both of Lewis County; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mason Cooper of Lewis County, Zack (Kennedy) Riley of Maysville, and Casey (Ralph) Mineer of Lewis County; a sister, Marjorie Jessee of Cynthiana; two nieces, Charlotte (Phillip) McCarty, and Gladys Jessee, both of Cynthiana; two nephews, Steve (Carol) Jessee of Maysville, and Tim (Rae Jean) Jessee of Dalesburg; and great-nieces, Brianna Jessee and Sandy McCarty. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a sister, Juanita Ralls; and a son, Billy Owens.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. James Hickerson. Visitation will be 11am-2pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fleming County Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Billy Riley, Steve Jessee, Tim Jessee, and Marion Story. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles 'Sleepy' Adams, and Zack Riley.

Memorials are suggested to the Flemingsburg First Church of God, 710 Elizaville Ave., Flemingsburg, KY 41041.
