Mamie Smith

Mamie A. 'Sue' Smith, 86, of Flemingsburg, widow of William Shirley Smith to whom she married on January 25, 1945, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.

Born January 26, 1927 in Nicholas County, she was the daughter of the late Herman Finley and Thelma Belle McIntyre Clark. Sue was of the Christian Faith and was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Nicholas County. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was known for her very strong work ethic. She will be missed by her loving family.

Survivors include: a daughter, Bonnie (Larry) Gilvin of Wallingford; a son, Dean (Jeannie) Smith of Flemingsburg; two grandchildren, Billy Gene Smith and Jamie Dean Smith; a brother, Roy E. Clark of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, E.C. Clark and Ralph Clark; and two sisters, Ruby Lee Clark and Mahala Frances Burke.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Grimes officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery.
