Melvin Dean Planck

Melvin Dean Planck, 83, of Three Mile Road, Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his home.

He was born April 24 1941 in Fleming County, Kentucky, a son of the late Paul Walter Planck and Frances Louise Hamm Planck.

Melvin enjoyed the outdoors, farming and fishing. He enjoyed playing scratch off tickets with the lottery but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Hardin; two brothers, Walter "Rudy" Planck and David Planck; and one sister, Paulette Busch.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Janet Shoemaker Plank, whom he married on June 25, 1968; two sons, Michael (Tammy) Planck of Flemingsburg and Danny (Jean) Planck of Ohio; three brothers, Phillip (Jean) Planck, James "Benny" (Brenda) Planck, and Gary (Debbie) Planck all of Flemingsburg; one sister, Brenda Harmon also of Flemingsburg; five grandchildren, Sydnee Hardin, Nicholas Hardin, Jo Planck, Christopher Planck (Casey) and Samantha Planck-Owens (Jake); one great-grandchild, Jude Planck-Owens; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Private family services will be conducted with Brother James Ray Hickerson officiating.

Melvin will be laid to rest in the Concord Cemetery in Fleming County. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
