Nancye Farley

Nancye Belle Hall Farley, former Circuit Clerk in Fleming County for 31 years, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. She was born on September 28, 1938 to the late Dr. John Lovell Hall and the late Ada Estes Hall.

Nancy Belle attended Murray State University and returned to Flemingsburg for employment at the State Highway Department for nine years. After her tenure there, she became the Fleming County Deputy Circuit Clerk serving under Jean Fleming. She continued to serve the community in a public office position as the Fleming County Circuit Clerk until her retirement. She never had an opponent after winning her first term. Nancye was a devoted Kentucky citizen, being awarded the honor of Kentucky Colonel.

She served on the Democratic Executive Committee and was a member of the Fleming County Democratic Women's Club. She received several community awards, such as, 'The Champ Clark' award and the Chamber of Commerce 'Citizen of the Year' award. She gave many hours and years to volunteer work as a Blood Drive Representative and was a devoted blood donor. Nancye was a lifetime member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James 'Jim' Farley; a daughter, Denise (John) Madden; grandchildren, Erica Farley (Troy) Archibald, Christopher, Corben and J.J. Madden; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis (Cecil) Hurd; a sister-in-law, Patti Hall; step-sister, Connie (Jimmy) Williams; daughter-in-law, Ada Farley and her two children; and a niece and a nephew from Illinois. Besides her parents, Nancye was preceded in death by her eldest son, John Keith Farley, and his wife Kathy, and their child, John Anderson Farley; youngest son, William 'Bill' Farley; and her younger brother, John 'Johnny' Hall.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Flemingsburg Christian Church officiated by the Rev. Peter Morgan and the Rev. Norman Wasson. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Friday, March 4th at the church. Burial will be in the Fleming County Cemetery.
