Norman J. Gray, 75, of Poplar Plains Road, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, well known and respected cattle broker, farmer and landowner, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 26, 1948, in Maysville a son of the late Stanley Eugene Gray and Betty Jean McCord Gray.
Norman served in the United States Navy. He was a very active member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Cowan and also served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Kentucky Cattleman's Association and along with his wife owned and operated the Antiques to Applesauce store. He attended Morehead State University and Fugazzi Business College.
Norman was a devoted family man, husband, father, and brother. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and loved all sports. He was a knife collector and enjoyed farming and being outdoors. Most of all, his biggest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Emily Gaunce also a special great-uncle, Richard T. "Dickie" Vanlandingham.
Survivors include his wife Willas LeForgee Gray; one daughter, Oneida Gray-Souder and husband Rick of Poplar Plains, Kentucky; one brother, Dale Gray and wife Kathy of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; one sister, Eva Colgan and husband John also of Flemingsburg; one nephew, Todd Gaunce of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Madison Souder and Riley Souder; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday November 1, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Brother Dean Brewer and Rick Souder officiating.
Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home after the service by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post 5 and the Franklin Soulsey VFW Post #1834.
Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hope and the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church.
