Oda Jean Wells, 86, of Mt. Carmel, passed away at Hospice of Hope in Maysville surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 30, 2015. Jean was born November 26, 1928 in Whitley County to the late M.T. and Mae Alsip Worley of Corbin, KY. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Steve Woodrow Wells in 1987.

She is survived by: her three daughters, Erlene (Dennis) Watts, Elaine (Phillip) Doyle, and Gwen (Keven) O'Cull; five sons, Wilbur Steve (Marsha) Wells, Tony (Anita) Wells, Pat (Linda) Wells, Kenneth (Sandy) Wells, and Lanny (Ginia) Wells; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Jean also cared deeply for her many special nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jean was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Her passion was quilting and cooking and she loved to cook for her family and her church family as well as baking desserts for the Sugarloaf Christian Church Camp. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Foxport officiated by Bro. Tom Mitchell. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Wednesday, September 2nd at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home, and from 11am-1pm Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her sons, Steve, Tony, Pat, Ken, Lanny, and son-in-law Phillip. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Sugarloaf Christian Service Camp, 637 Prater Rd., Wallingford, KY 41093. Condolences may be made at www.carpenterfritzvicefh.com
