Perry Dewayne Cartee, 61 of Flemingsburg, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead, Kentucky after a brief illness. He was born February 16, 1960 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Gaston Cartee and Virginia Owen.
Perry was of the Christian faith and was a Warehouse Manager for Bryant Heating and Cooling and was a former employee of the Lexington Herald-Leader. He was the lead singer and rhythm guitar player for Spencer Creek Band. He enjoyed music, camping and time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Kim Harper Cartee, one step-son Christian (Chelsea) Jent of Flemingsburg, two step-daughters, Hannah Jent and Katelyn Jent both of Flemingsburg. One son, Ben (Vicki) Cartee and one daughter Lori (Craig) Bragg all of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Five brothers, Terry Cartee, Jerry Cartee, Gaston Cartee, and Tom Cartee all of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Leroy Herron of Georgia. Five sisters, Carolyn Smith and Marsha Whilden both of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Angela Carlile of Louisville, Kentucky, Libby Ogelsby and Vicky Foskey both of Georgia. Ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, September 23, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Pastor Shawn Meade officiating.
Burial will follow in the Goddard Cemetery.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg is after 6:00 pm Wednesday.
Pall bearers will be Ben Cartee, Christian Jent, Scott Weaver, Tom Cartee, Gaston Cartee and Kent Bruce. Honorary pall bearers will be the Spencer Creek Band and his camping friends.
