Mr. Ray Spurlock, 75, of Flemingsburg, beloved husband of Sandra Spurlock, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the V.A. Hospital -' Cooper Drive in Lexington. Ray was born on April 14, 1940 in Colfax, a son of the late Emmitt and Madeline King Spurlock.
A U.S. Army veteran and a retired machinist with Emerson Power Transmission, Ray loved being outdoors. He enjoyed being on the tractor, farming and working in the garden, but most of all, Ray loved to fish.
Besides his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Kristin (Donnie) Hunt of Hillsboro; a son, Wayne Scheffler of Flemingsburg; two grandsons, Tyler and Cody Hunt; two brothers, Frank (Sharon) Spurlock of Greenfield, MO, and Charles Spurlock of Flemingsburg; six sisters, Evelyn (Dillard) Busby of Gayleville, AL, Alice (Roy) Overbey of Ewing, Martha (Pat) Malone of Tunnel Hill, GA, Marilyn Pinks of Winter Haven, FL, Janet (Randy) Spencer of Wallingford, and Debbie (Kenny) Gulley of Wallingford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Sonny and Jimmy Spurlock; and a sister, JoAnn Kerns.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Richard Engle. Visitation will be 11am-2pm Saturday at the funeral home.
