Robert Paul "Bobby" Bishop, Sr., 76 of Elizaville , passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at his home after an extended illness. He was born March 6, 1945 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Charley Belle Bishop and Esther Ruth Bowles Bishop.
Bobby or Pop's as he was known to his family and friends was retired from Jockey International (Knitting Division) in Carlisle. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam era. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries he received in Vietnam. He was a member of the New Vision Church of God and enjoyed antique cars, collecting antique radios, playing euchre, family reunions, being outside and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Lorene Vice Bishop whom he married December 18, 1971. Two sons; Robert Paul Bishop, Jr. and his wife Faye and Jason "Jake" Bishop both of Elizaville. One daughter, Alisha Beth Gibson and her husband Daniel of May's Lick, Kentucky. Six grandchildren; Emily Bishop, Makala Bishop, Gracie Bishop, Amelia Gibson, Erick Corona and R. J. Corona. One great-grandchild, Olivia Bishop.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, July 9, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Pastor Cleve King and Pastor Judy Wallace officiating.
Burial with full military honors by the W. N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post No. 1834 will be in the Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg is after 5:00 pm Thursday.
Pall bearers will be Robert Paul Bishop, Jr., Jason "Jake" Bishop, Eddie Vice, Obert Vice, Daniel Gibson and R. J. Corona. Honorary pall bearers will be Erick Corona and Neil Art.
