Ova Land, 76, of Flemingsburg, Kentucky passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born April 15, 1946, to the late Arthur Land and Delora Sloan Land.

Ova attended the Buffalo Trail Baptist Church in Morristown, Tennessee. He also pastored at the Haymond Freewill Baptist Church and the Mt. Vernon Church of the Nazarene. He attended seminary school in Ashland, Kentucky.

He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam era. He worked for several years as a coalminer and carpet layer. He also worked at the Bluegrass Army Depot in Lexington.

Ova enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading, nature and eating popcorn, He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at get-togethers and cookouts.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death  five brothers, Colton Land, Eugene Land, John Land, Millard Land, and his twin brother Ora Land. Three sisters, Alpha Land, Sabra VanHoose, and Mary Lou Cantrell.

He is survived by his wife Willene Johnson Land; one son Donnie Allen Land (Joann) of Flemingsburg, three daughters, Shelia Kay Land Nuckols (Matt) of Flemingsburg, Joann Brashear Land (Donnie) of Flemingsburg, and Irma Brashear of Dandridge Tennessee.  Eight grandchildren; Ashley Nicole Land Hicks, Kendra Brooke Land Wesley, Donnie Allen Land II, Whitney Taylor Nuckols, Joseph Sowden, Christopher Dewayne Damron, Michael Charles Grubb, and Blaze Grubb. Six great grandchildren; Easton Marshall Hicks, Adeline Elizabeth Hicks, Ezekiel Paul Wesley, Evolette Pearl Wesley, Elora Pauline Wesley, Mallory Damron, and Penelope Damron.  Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Private family funeral service with full military honors will be conducted at the graveside in the Land Family Cemetery with Dr. Keith Mowry of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church in Morristown, Tennessee officiating.

Public visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg is after 4:00 P.M. Wednesday May 11, 2022.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.
