Phillip Sparks

Phillip J. Sparks, 79, of Flatwoods, Kentucky formerly of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.

He was born on April 1, 1942 in Muses Mills, Kentucky, a son of the late Alfred Jackson Sparks and Maymie Crawford Sparks.

Mr. Sparks was a farmer and attended the Flemingsburg Church of the Nazarene.

He used to love to play golf and he always stayed busy.  He loved mowing the yard and was very particular about everything he did.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Franklin and four sisters, Bonnie, Janet, Jewell and infant, Shirley.

Survivors include his wife, Dora Ellen Gardner Sparks, one daughter, Tammy Denton and her husband, Greg of Raceland, Kentucky, grandson, James Bret Denton (Megan) of Ironton, Ohio, granddaughter, Jeana Kate Denton Hnatuk (Conrad) of Winnipeg, Canada, great-granddaughter, Madelyn Ellen Denton of Ohio, great-grandson, Jackson Beck Denton of Ohio, three brothers, James Sparks and his wife, Lou of Florida, Alfred Sparks, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Lexington, Kentucky, Michael Sparks and his wife, Toni of North Carolina, two sisters, Rachel Smith of Winter Garden, Florida and Linda Stanfield of Hudson, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, 405 South Main Cross Street, Flemingsburg, Kentucky with Rev. Clint Strickland officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Glascock, Ray Vice and Jimmy Jett.
