Roger Rayburn

Roger D. Rayburn, 75 of Tilton, Kentucky passed away Wednesday evening, August 18, 2021 at Hospice of Hope in Maysville after a short illness. Born July 12, 1946 in Ashland, Kentucky he was the son of the late Charles Edward Rayburn and Maude Gladys Hamilton Rayburn.

Roger served in the United States Air Force from August 1965 until August 1971. He worked for the telephone company across the southeastern United States installing telephone offices and phone systems. Upon returning to Kentucky he drove a milk truck for Mack Brewer for many years traveling to farms across Fleming and surrounding counties. Lastly, he drove for Heiner's Inc. before retiring. After retirement, Roger enjoyed driving for the Amish community, taking care of the Tilton United Methodist Church grounds and fishing.

He is survived by a brother, David Lee Rayburn of Advance, North Carolina. Nieces; Lisa Ross (Rob) of Flemingsburg, Anita Klein (Johannes) of Advance, North Carolina and Angela Barrington (Rob) of Mobile, Alabama. Nephews; Scotty Royse (Tina) of Richmond, Kentucky, Daryl Royse Shepherd (Brad) of Whitesburg, Kentucky and Donnie Royse (Justin) of Lexington, Kentucky. Also, several great nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 43 years, Joann Rayburn, sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Tommy Royse and sister-in-law Darlene Rayburn.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, August 23, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, 405 South Main Cross Street, Flemingsburg, Kentucky with Rev. Gail Skaggs officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wallingford Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the W. N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post No. 1834.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg is after 11:00 am Monday.

Contributions are suggested to the Tilton United Methodist Church or Hospice of Hope.
